Coffee Story
Just off the coast of Monteverde, Finca Monteverde is a 15-hectare farm cultivating the unique coffee varieties of Red and Yellow Bourbon, Gesha, Wush Wush, and Mocca. It is home to Gilardo Gutierrez and his family where they have over 70 years of expertise and experience growing coffee. Known for their impeccable attention to detail, their coffee cherries are harvested at optimal ripeness and undergo controlled fermentation for up to 36 hours. This natural processed coffee is then dried on raised beds in a solar dryer with a clear plastic roof, allowing for airflow to maintain its low temperatures. This consistency in a cool climate results in getting a coffee that is bursting with unique tropical fruit characteristics like mango, pineapple, raspberry and peach.
Wush Wush is a rare coffee varietal and being one of the highest-rated coffees that we have ever sourced, we are stoked and proud to have received a Bronze Medal in the Australian International Coffee Awards (AICA) 2019 with this beautiful coffee, as well as being mentioned in StandArt Magazine Summer edition 2020 with Brian Gaffney enjoying the coffee and giving it a mention.
We taste sweet peaches, bubblegum, mixed berries and we absolutely love the distinct flavour of tropical fruits, mango, pineapple with a hint of cocoa. This coffee is medium-bodied with a big juicy acidity and a puckering finish that lingers. Absolutely delightful!
